Here’s a look at what’s coming up soon in YA at Wonders and Marvels.
Kristen Tubb’s Autumn Winifred Oliver Does Things Different is the story of an interesting but little-known aspect of US history: the making of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s 1934, and eleven-year-old Autumn lives in the picturesque town of Cades Cove—which she’d love to leave in favor of the excitement of Chattanooga. But when Autumn learns that the government is planning to destroy her childhood home to build a national park, she decides to do everything in her power to stop it. That includes convincing her crusty Gramps, who’s incredibly enthusiastic about the proposed park, to change his mind.
Autumn Winifred Oliver Does Things Different was published in 2008, and it was recently selected to represent Tennessee in the 2009 National Book Festival. The author, Kristen Tubb, also has another book called Selling Hope that will be published next year.
Look for a guest post from Kristen soon at Wonders and Marvels!
